well, our big one was like maybe 9-10 inches. They don't get to big were I fish. And yeah, they were under about 8 feet or so of water for ours. Going to try to get some more in tomorrow![]()

still catchin crappie up in shallow water, but they aren't still spawning. their bellies are full from eating all the small shad that are up in the shallows.
Ours last weekend didn't just have shad in 'em. Most of the females still had eggs in 'em when we cleaned them. What was surprising was how many of the eggs still looked very yellow and firm. Afew were orangish looking and looked like they were ready to drop but many still seemed far from it. Kind of weird spring w/ the crappie it seems.
Know what you mean, caught another 6 today. Got out there late and fished for a short time. Haven't cleaned them yet, on ice til tonight. But most of the other ones were yellowish eggs. Like maybe 1 was orange. Hasn't been THAT warm this year tho. Slowing them down.
Spawn has been over for about a month here in Southern IN. The bluegills are all about off the beds too. Fish never really moved to the shallows here to spawn, with the crazy spring weather we had here, I fear that this years spawn was a waste.
Could be! We caught several nice bull gills last Saturday in shallow water fishin for crappie......makes a guy wonder what's goin on?
Got 15 on eaglecreek on 7-19 and 9-10 still had eggs? 9 channels in the mix.
