    Life time warranty rods

I'm interested in buying a new flipping stick. My buddy accidently stepped on my favorite one. I pitch about 99% of the time I,m looking for a decent priced one thats light but very strong. I usually use a 7 6 heavy action Extreme rod from Bass Pro Shops & thought about trying something else, but with a lifetime warranty if possible . What are some of you guys favorites???

I had an old All Star that I broke a couple of years ago. Loved the rod...they replaced it no questions asked.

7'6" Shimano Crucial. It is a split-handle rod and is very sensitive. Also has a warranty that can't be beat. If you break one, take it to the closest Shimano dealer in your area and they replace it free of charge.

I bought a Shimano rod with the lifetime guarantee and was told there is a replacement charge on it.....I broke the rod and called backwaters in lexington and was told it would be the last of june before they could replace the thing ........called "****'s Sporting Goods" and was told in so many words to stick the thing where ther sun dont shine so now I'm waiting out the 6 weeks and hopefully I won't have any problem with replacing the thing....
Was great buying a new rod and breaking it right in the middle of the spring season and being told "sorry bout your luck"......So far I like the rod the little time I have gotten to use it.

I live down in Somerset and do business at the Lake Cumberland Outdoors on 90. I have now broken 4 rods in the last month and have had all replaced there no questions asked. They charge 12 bucks for shipping but you pick up a rod off the rack to replace your broken one. Shimano and Carrot Stix both have the lifetime over the counter warranty. I would recommend a 7'6" MH Carrot Stix. Ranks right there beside the Shimano Crucial for a little less price. I fished Shimano until I started breaking rods, switched to Carrot Stix and have had no problems.

I fish St. Croix Avid Series only. Absolutely love them. I've had to have a few replaced over the years and have had very good experiences with their customer service dept.

    Re: Life time warranty rods

The st. croix and shimano warranty and price with the quality of product is hard to compare to. Gloomis has a great product with a good warranty as well, but is a little higher priced.

To the above post about the shimano rod replacement shortage. Unfortunatly the 3 biggest rod companies have got themselves into a little bit of a pickle this year. There isn't available quantity on most rods through the manufacturers and it is making it hard on dealers to keep stock up and get warranty rods in a timely manner, obviously then making it inconvienant for the fisherman when a new or warranty rod is needed.

I have also heard of problems getting certain model Carrot Stix back in that were for a warranty replacement.

Whatever the main reason of this shortage is, its debatable and the reasoning from the companies may or may not be the exact reason for the shortages. But what we do know is that companies like loomis, shimano and st.croix have been on top of the market for over 20 years and will still be around and honor the warranty, however long it takes this time. That would be my suggestion is to stay with one of those 3 companies.

Many of us have watched rod companies go out of business and the warranty they had offered is about as useful as your broken rod. Thats my main fear with the carrot stix and other new rod companies that boast a good warranty. We all know that it is a hard time to make it in the recreational industry with the current economy.

You may want to look into Powell Rods. Been around since 1910. They have a lifetime warranty and are priced right for a lightweight sensitive rod.
