Follow up question on the thumb trick. Do you have need to tighten your drag pretty hard before turning your crank handle? I've tried the thumb trick but the reel didn't move when I cranked.Am I using too much thumb pressure on the spool?

The drag must be tight enough to allow the spool to turn.
