My cigars don't have directions on them, just government mandated warning that the product can harm you. Are saying if you use alcohol as er..directed it won't kill you? Are you ready for the government to regulate beer and liquor the same way?Tobacco is the only product that, when used as directed, will kill you. Something like 400k Americans die from complications due to smoking every year. So why is this product still around? Why no regs to make it less dangerous? How much of the medical expenses related to tobacco is covered by us, the taxpayers?

Every cent we pay in taxes or more taxes is less freedom we have over our own lives. I despise taxes and am automatically against all tax increases and automatically for all tax decreases no matter what the circumstance. The government needs to learn to live within its means like we all do.
Not sure that I get the comparison of tobacco and alcohol. Used in moderation, alcohol will not kill you. In fact, there have been a number of studies showing that a glass of wine or a beer a day can be good for you. Not so with smoking or other tobacco products. They represent one of the biggest contributors to adult deaths in the US. If we are for not letting the gov’t interfere with our lives, then why are crack, heroin, pot, etc. illegal? After all, marijuana does have medicinal purposes.
Guess my point is, if I start producing a food for human consumption that contains arsenic, for example, it will be pulled from the shelves in no time if it is even allowed to hit the markets. Why is tobacco different?
I agree.

I don't mind paying some taxes. We need military, new roads, police and fire protection. But, the taxation is getting a little out of hand.
Six AKs, 25+ mags and 4k+ rounds of ammo since last November for me.
I did a stream clean-up and bought a pack so I could smoke and keep the deer flies off me. When you're walking down the middle of a creek with a kayak full of river trash those flies find you pretty quick. They hate tobacco.
Anyways - the pack was over $5. How much more could they tax it?
