Do you think they took the stuff while all the bad storms were going on? If so they would have to be crazy to be out on the water in that and it's to bad they didn't get struck by lighting or have a nice big tree fall on them.
Nothing worse than a low life theif taking someones stuff and like another poster said "They'll get what's coming to them, one way or another".

Thats why I never leave my boat in the lake overnight.
This happened to one of my boats a,while back. They took every thing they could cut loose and carry to include a 10 HP motor. I started my own search at about 5:30 am that very morning. I had contacted the authorities , all of them from the State Police to the local sherrif and the Game Wardens. and belive it or not the #1 suspect was working for a marina right there on the lake, I will not say which one, due to the I will sue if you say my name any where. The young man worked for the owner operater of the marina on Barren River, all of his rentals ran 10HPs on them, all mercury's like mine. The young man that the "law enforcement officer" had spoke of was involved in many thefts and had been picked up several times, but was always cut loose due to some loop hole or another even though they had raided the farm he lived on and found more than 50 rod and reels all types of tackle and gear all of which have no way of tracing them back to the real owners due to the lack serial numbers. big items were taken across the TN border and stored in a barn where KY could not go and TN said hey there was no crime in our state man sorry about the bad luck. Well when we ask the marina owner if the young man was working that morning and he said no and also told us that the the trust worthy young man had worked untill at least 3:30am that morning cleaning lawn mowers, for him that had been used the day before. What a great guy he was. After a week or so went by a fish and game guy told us the he was sure it had been taken to TN there was no cross reference of small engine Serial numbers. He said this had been a long time thing, folks under 18 were used to make the snatch and grab just in case they did get caught and the judges would give them a slap on the wrist as a prank theft. Not to worry though every six months we get a call from the County asking us if the motor ever turned back up. The ones on barren "night fish" they turn off the running lights and cruise with a a trolling motor and haul the boats out to a covered area strip what they could sell if you are lucky they put the hull back top keep folks from spotting, the loss so quickly. One law officer told me the he did not say the following, if you could get a clear shot at the motor of the thiefs boat and it just happened to disable the boat. and then report a shot fired in the area. Sorry about your luck but it looks like we are going to take care of law enforcement like the old days! But kill motors and boats not people.
Sorry for your Dad's loss and you mentioned you have been trying to get your dad to buy a better boat, not sure if this was his better boat or not. My buddy has a Triton Tr186, Yamaha 175 HPDI, hot foot, Lowrace GPs unit on the dash, another Lowrance unit up front, lightted rod lockers, Flat out excellent boat for 2 guys to fish out of ... The motor starts on the first crank, The hull is in excellent warranty. Don't think it has spent 20 days on the water in 2008. Excellent boat, extra drivers seat, lighted rod lockers. Let me know if interested and I will get in touch with him.I have always heard about people having stuff stolen from their boats which are tied to their docks, but have never experienced it until today!!
My Dad just called me and told me that he checked his boat today and that everything was gone. They took the pedistals, seats on the pedistals, unscrewed the seats that you sit in while running and took those. Pried open the rod storage compartment and took about 6 rods. Took throw perservers, fire extinguisher, anchor, running lights. Tried to take the motor but thankfully it was bolted on! I can not believe they did not take the TM.
If anyone knows or sees anyone trying to unload a bunch of stuff, please PM me!
I have been trying to get Dad to buy a better boat for years, and this is what happens!
Boat was located about a mile above the no ski zone above Wax!
thats cool man it just kinda hit a nerve but its ok... if i was going to profile the rash of robberies on the increase i would say that a town has on average about 10 to 20 theifs and with the labor rate as low as it is of course the crime rate is goign to rise much like in the wild... when there is to many coyotes there is far fewer rabbits adn when there is more rabbits there is less coyotes in an area... in the criminal justice world we call it the pengilum.. I would think that the theives are becoming more bold and cocky and if the law was to catch acouple of these guys the crime rate would drop for a bit until someone fills the gap.... i would also believe thefts are on the rise too is because people at pawnshops and people who buy stuff like that have alot less money to spend so the theif is required to steal more to make up for lost profit... it all makes sense if u think about it. Another thing to look at on the crime rate too is in tough times like this domestic violence is going to rise also becuase families that can no longer afford to do will begin to quarrel and could lead to violence both mental and physical.... to put it all in perspective and make a long story short cause i just finished my degree in the fall at eku with a degree in crj so i like doing criminologist thinking and theories of why and follow up with researching a area and looking at the trends.... but here is about the best explanation i can think of..... when the money runs out the crap hits the fan....Ryan..
Calm down ole buddy. I have nothing against educated people. If I did I would hate myself.. LOL I have a degree so this ISN'T a case of uneducated bias. High school JUST let out last week (here anyway) so it doesn't fit with the timing. The kindergartners probably all switched over to day care or have alibis from mom or the nanny.. All I am saying is that COULD be an explanation for the timing of why the rash started a few weeks ago. KIDS with nothing to do, no money in their pockets and no way to put any there. I am not saying all. I would guess its just a few if any at all. Good luck on the job hunt. I know its tough out there right now...
Substance abuse rises in times like these, which accounts for the rise in crime. Something like 90% of crimes are substance-abuse related. People don't have money, but would rather spend it getting high or drunk than feeding their kids. Pathetic.thats cool man it just kinda hit a nerve but its ok... if i was going to profile the rash of robberies on the increase i would say that a town has on average about 10 to 20 theifs and with the labor rate as low as it is of course the crime rate is goign to rise much like in the wild... when there is to many coyotes there is far fewer rabbits adn when there is more rabbits there is less coyotes in an area... in the criminal justice world we call it the pengilum.. P.S. Sorry about your dad's loss.
The bad part is that law enforecment does their job and catches the thieves. Then before the officer exits the jail with the paperwork the piece of _ _ _ _ has someone post bond which is usually low for non-violent offenders. I have had this happen to me numerous times when locking up a thief. And i must say that a thief is near the top of my list with the sex offenders. It makes me wonder if it is worth risking my life in this job. Sorry to hear about your loss.
My ranger is a special order color scheme because it was an FLW boat and they made ONE that year, someone stole the seats out of it costing me over $600 just to replace them back to original, they had to be ordered and took me 6 months to get them from Ranger. If I could have got my hands on the persons responsible you would have read about a misunderstanding, would have been some furniture movin'. The big thing around the house is tackle theft - not electronics! Rods, Reels and tackle with the price of these rod and reels now a days keep and eye on ebay!!! I still to this day a year later watch for my seats on there!!!!!!
You're right! Most of the kids I went to college with couldn't even get a car door open when it is unlocked!Duayne... i hope that you arent blaming all the theft on educated college students!!! because that is completely absurd.... i know there may be a few bad apples in the college student world but there are far more out there that arent educated that are more likely to steal.... I have a college degree and i am looking for work presently and that burns me to the core for u to say that thefts are on the rise because college students are out for the summer..... well highschool is out for the summer too and so is kindergarten... maybe its the kindergarteners that are stealing ipods and guns from cars...... that would be like me telling you that your opinion that thefts are on the rise because college is out, is a uneducated biased opinion about a culture that is trying to educate themselves in a way to better the world.....
Tom523 you trying to stur stuff up with ryan,
I think that the guy in your picture box could be the suspect. it looks like he needs money to get a hair cut."poor NICK"
