Absolutely awesome move for right now. Will help with practice, x's and o's, and teaching that zone he likes so much. As far as the future head coach.... who knows? Certainly wouldn't have thought Coach P would take over for Denny.....

Well Ricky P and Ralph are reunited, I for one like this move. Also by naming him as an Associate coach I think the writing is on the wall, that Willard will step in as head coach when Rick steps down or out, just my thoughts.
What do you guys think??

I like the hire, but I think it is more to add stability to the assistant coaching staff more than anything. I truly expect coach to be here for a 3-4 more years and then by then Kevin Willard will be ready to take over as head coach and Ralph could still be on the staff. I look for Massiello to get a head coaching job after this season.
It also free coach P up to do more hands on recruiting once the recruits are indentified.
Willard is a good guy, so I think it's a good move for Louisville...
Not sure what to think about Pitino. Part of me thinks he's on the way out sooner than 3-4 years, but you never know. When he does leave, Willard might make a pretty good successor. As much as I give the Cards a hard time, I want to see their program remain strong and make for some killer contests in the UK/UL rivalry for years to come. Love watching those when both teams are strong.
Just like Rick, Willard did have experience coaching previously at the best basketball program in the state.(Sorry, had to throw in at least one did.)
