    Cave Run Question

Got the green light for first fishing trip to Cave Run for fathers day. I will be coming up Saturday afternoon. I need suggestions for Marina that will allow overnight stay so I can charge the trolling motor batteries etc..

I prefer fishing crankbaits and finese techniques so general area I need to start would be great. Not looking for your favorite spots but a place to go for a decent chance for some largemouths.

    Thanks

    Re: Cave Run Question

I don't think you will find a marina were you can keep your boat in the water over night. Plus there aren't any place right on the water that you can stay at unless you get a camping spot at Twin Knobs but still you'll either have to have a very long cord or pull it out of the water.

Call Hooks lines and sinkers. I don't have the number but they have some rooms and I'm sure you can plug in to charge there. There are some cabins also but I can't think of the name right off.

    Re: Cave Run Question

went out there 2 weeks ago and did really well from 7-10am on a baby bass crankbait and baby brush hogs (watermellon). they shut down on me after 10 though. went two weeks in a row and the crankbait did well both times early..........
    good luck.

    Re: Cave Run Question

Try to call Scott Creek Marina at (606) 784-9666. They sometimes have overnight slip rental.

For crankbaits, I would try the points in Beaver Creek as soon as the channel markers start and the recreational traffic lightens. They are usually good for some aggressive KYs and some decent LMs. Finesse baits around the edges of the weed beds around the main lake will sometimes surprise you! If you have the capability, go into the river channel if you have a GPS to plot the channel or go slowly or follow someone that knows the channel and fish the timber as previously mentioned.

    Good luck!
