What am I doing wrong on pts.?

Fished Nolin yesterday and I knew the bite would be on the main lake. I studied the map all last week and found the points that were close to the river channel. We threw carolina rigs ,texas rigs, deep diving cranks and jigs. Got on each point and fished about 1/2 hour without any bites then moved on to another. We worked main lake pts, secondary pts, cuts in the banks and channel swings along the bank. WE NEVER GOT BIT ON THE MAIN LAKE !!!! Can anyone tell me what im doing wrong ? Thanks

it sounds like you where doing everything right. but everything you where using where bottom baits the only other thing is the fish could have ben suspending, and then you would need to put a bait in the strike zone, like get on top and use a drop shot, jigging spoon, spinnerbait, jerk bait, and some times a top water bait will work too. alot of times they will suspend under balls of bait fish and be looking up to attack. and if none of that works maybee you just ant holding your mouth right.

Same here, I did the same thing at Nolin last weekend. We caught a few dinks and broke off a nice one. But the majority of the time we were hauling water. Not sure what your situation is, but I really think if I had better electronics I could do a little better fishing out away from the bank instead of hitting the obvious points that get hammered. I've tried using buoys also, but still have a hard time visualizing ledges without a bank close by. Maybe somebody will have some pointers. Good luck.
