    Road Rage!

Man I gotta tell you a story that made me proud once it was over.
Got off work about 5:30pm yesterday and was headed home on New Circle so the traffic was moderate but not bad. I merged into the right lane and then made it into the left lane so I could cruise without breaking for the on and off ramps. Well, as the traffic starts to thin out our lane starts to slow down to about 50mph (speed limit is 55) so I get in the right lane and start passing all these cars without a problem.

When I get up to a little white Toyota he speeds up so I can't pass him? This is the guy that was driving 50mph holding up traffic so I speed up thinking he will give up and let me pass but I was wrong so I had to get behind him. I'm not tailgating since I have Maxx with me and honestly that usually leads to a problem but I was pissed.

Well a few miles of going 50 mph I see another chance to pass so I get in the right lane and punch the pedal and take off when I get at his right rear quater panel he swerves to knock me off the road and it scared the poop out of me so I backed off and caught my breath and starting planning how bad I was going to hurt this little snot nosed punk. I followed him for a mile or so and fortunate for him I calmed down. He turned off and I drove by, blew him a kiss and then used a little french and sign language. Oddly enough when I looked this punk in the eye I saw a lost soul...I think the guy was on something or just crazy.

I never understood why people do this type of driving but safe to say that little boy had some divine intervention that he isn't aware of. So I guess I'm proud I didn't follow him to the stop light and pull him out of the car for some face to face talking... Guess I'm growing soft in my old age.

    Re: Road Rage!

Don, there is no explaining why some people do the things they do, especially on the hightways.

A few months ago, I turned off of 31W onto the E-town By-Pass on my way to Nolin. There was a little Red sports car a ways in front of me in the right lane and a BIG RV (the ones that look like a Greyhound bus) pulled on to the By-Pass from the left lane entrance.

Speep limit is 55 but the Red Car is doing about 40 so the RV tries to pass him on the left but as he came even, the Red Car speeds up and stays right with the RV. So, the RV puts on his right blinker and slows down to go behind the Red Car. The Red Car slows down also and stays in the lane keeping even with the RV so he can't pass or fall behind either. The RV speeds up, the Red Car speeds up. The RV slows down the Red Car slows down until we are about a half mile from the end of the By-Pass and the exit to the WK Parkway which is what I assumed the RV wanted to take.

The RV drviver sees his exit is coming up, which he will miss if he doesn't get into the right lane, so he slows down gradually and the Red Car slows down also and staying in the right lane. Soon the RV is doing under five MPH and so is the Red Car. Then the RV very slowly starts moving to the right and the idiot in the Red Car finally figures out that the RV driver is GOING TO GET IN THE RIGHT LANE even if he has to push the Red Car off the road doing it.

Good thinking, because the Red Car speeds up and moves into the left lane and off the By-Pass while the RV takes the exit he wanted and the rest of us can go where we want to also.

As I said no telling why some people do what they do, but I really had to applaud the RV driver for quick thinking in slowing down and moving over.

    Re: Road Rage!

I believe that some of those idiots are trying to challenge people to a race because they think loud mufflers and a thumper stereo, on a little sardine can, makes them the fastest thing on the road.

Last Friday while we were returning home from vacation, we had lots of "young and dumb" drivers pass us on the left and then shoot right across in front of us to turn off at an exit. They were so close to our front bumper it made the hair on my head stand up. We were driving 70 mph, which is the speed limit on that Interstate, and barely missed hitting 3 or 4 of them. Thank God for brakes.

I told Sweetie Pie that we would probably have a heart attack if we knew the type of people who were driving within 6-8 feet of us and what some of them were carrying in their vehicles.

When talking this over with my buddies they all agreed walking away was the best thing especially when you consider what these fools might carry in their vehicles. It's not worth it....
