Man, Is it HOT!
Too bad it not that hot when it comes to my fishing...at least not for me today. Went out trolling for striper on LC this morning and ZERO'ED.. Launched out of Halcombs ~5:30 and trolled shiners on downriggers at 15 feet, plus one on a balloon at ~7 feet. Worked the north shore in about 20-50 feet of water from Rowena to the mouth of Beaver/Otter Creek. Crossed over and trolled around there for ~1 1/2 hours, from 15 to 25 feet......nothing.. 9:30 pulled in the lines and called it quites. Also, lost my NEW HAT in the wind...######.
Air temp was in the high 80's...Humid...sooooo...high. Surface water temp 81. There is still some wood floating around on the lake, so be careful if you are out there. Mostly small stuff, but did see one BIG LOG. Only takes one to do you in.
Need to think/dream on this fishing thing, but thinking of going out again tomorrow. Good news is, I did manage to keep some bait alive (shiners). First time with my new/modified bait bucket (took one of my Coleman coolers and fitted it with a battery powered bubbler...worked great and keep the water cool).
Anyone have an suggestions on where/how to find the stripers? Never did find any schools of shad today.

Re: Man, Is it HOT!
I put in at Halcombs also Sat. We ran to the mouth of Beaver and fished over the Otter creek channel then up towards the island on the right close to Otter creek. 3 pull downs, one breakoff on 20lb. line and boated one 27" striper. There were 17 boats at one time all on the backside of that shallow island. Didn't want to get in the middle of that! We fished from 25' to 35' with 1/2 oz. weights on planer boards. Pulled umbrella rigs for about 2 hours with no takers. Called it a day around 12.

Re: Man, Is it HOT!
Well Sunday was a different day. Launched again out of Halcombs and went stright to the mouth of Beaver/Otter Creek. Trolled main lake at the entrance and then up into the mouth of the creeks. Caught 1 short striper (23 inches) at 6:00 am and another 26 inches at 7:00 am. Both caught between main lake and first island on the right on down riggers at 15 ft using shinners.
Talk about all the boats behind the first island, saw them also on Saturday and there were 5-6 there this morning also. Made a pass through there around 8:30/9:00 am to see what all the draw was and marked quite a bit of shad, but didn't find any takers for my offerings. For what is worth, didn't see anyone else boat any fish in there. Hope they got some earlier in the morning?
Still HOT....gave it up around 9:30.
