I was up in the tailwaters of Dix Dam this past week doing to trout fishing, and I noticed something that I have not seen ever before in the river. The electric company was generating so the river had a flow to it, and the water temperature was around 48 degrees. In this cold water was schools of bluegills and a few small bass. We came back later in the day with redworms and caught some nice bluegills off the bottom of the river. These fish were ice cold to the touch. Has any of you witnessed game fish acclimating in such cold water before? For all you trout fishermen, we were below the restricted area for using live bait.
You know...after thinking about this, these fish are not stupid. On a hot summer day, it is the place to be.
