Thinking of heading to Laurel this weekend to do some night fishing. Any tips on where to start and what types of bait and color? Not looking for anyones honey holes, would just like to catch a few. I usually put in at Flatwoods. Thanks for the help!!!

Bass or am I wasting my time?
Don't know about wasting your time we caught a few smallmouths on crankbaits (one > 20") Friday (the 19th)
"I" would try the main lake points (and have found the SM suspended over really deep water (> 100ft) with the shad also during the daytime . (right about the thermocline)
Largemouth I'd "guess" probably go upriver from flatwoods and hit the timbered coves close to the banks (shaded side of the trees most likely)
Also have heard the jig bite is decent on dark jigs at night but not positive on how accurate that is.
Thanks for the help. I like fishing the river so i'll head that way. Let you know how we do. Later....smoke
Smokefan here's hoping you catch all you can handle and some really big ones too!
I was thinking with all the rain we've been having "I" would probably try the downriver side of the points too (where they can lie in wait for unsuspecting bait to come to them with the current)![]()
DO keep in mind the WP will be out in force checking equipment and for sober folks (or not so sober folks) probably a good time to re-check all things. Make sure FE is charged, throwable is handy etc. They're pretty much always out on Laurel but supposed to be more this W/E![]()
