    Ky Lake Lodging??

My wife and I are going to Ky Lake some time in July for a few days and was wondering where would be best place to stay.We want a cabin near water cause we plan on doing some fishing.I want something reasonable but not a dump....I know there are alot of guys(and girls) who stay on KL and would like some options on where to stay.I appreciate any info i can get.We will be crappie and bass fishing, but with my wife we will be fishing for whatever is biting...Thanks in advance, Chad

I personally stay at the state parks if I want a cabin. KY **** Village has some right across from the marina if you are going to be in the northern half or KenLake Lodge is of Hwy 68 area and they have nice ones. The rates are reasonable and your helping the state parks that always seem to have financial issues. They usually have buffets in the lodge and they aren't bad. You can get a one, two or three bedroom. This will usually be your cheapest bet over the private resorts and you won't get carried away by any bugs at night.

If you want to stay on North Barkley and looking for clean and affordable then check out Poplar Creek Lodge. No cabins but they do have a room with a king size bed, very nice furniture that the ms. will appreciate, right next door to the cabin and within a mile of Poplar Creek ramp, a couple of miles from some decent food in Eddyville and a few miles from Patty's Restaurant the you have to take the ms. to. Again, no cabin but guaranteed it will be clean and the owner Katie lives on site and takes care of the place. Tell her Elwood sent you. Tell her George says hi as well

I agree with all that has been said one more option is the Moors' which is mid lake between the dam and the bridge. It has cabins and a lodge, it has a nice restaurant. I agree with Elwod you need to take your wife to Patti's sometime during the trip.

Better call patties now for a reservation, and FYI Green turtle bay has one of the best fiework displays around, not to mention some pretty decent accomodations. Check out willow pond in calvert city or aurora, Big Bear resort has had some pretty decent price drops due to the economy and is very nice over all
