    HMG Fenwick Rod

I typically fish with G-Loomis rods but have a HMG Fenwick that has been sitting around forever. I tried attaching an old baitcaster I got so the kid can start to learn how to throw one and it appears that the threads are stripped where you tighten down the reel. Someone told me they will warrenty the rod if I mail it back but on the web site it says I have to have the original sales ticket and that was probably 15 years ago. Besides trying to use tape does anyone have any quick good fixes that I am not thinking about to solve my problem?

I don't have a good quick fix but, you could have a new reel seat put on. I don't think it would be worth the money. Just use the tape.

I ran into this problem a few years ago. I cut a little bit (1/4" to 3/8") off each end of the reel foot which allowed the nut to grab some threads which had never been used.
