Re: 26 year high in Unemployment

I worked in the building industry for many years. I remember the superintendant coming through the subdivision telling us that osha or workmanscomp were in the area and you should have seen eveyone scatter. That place was deserted in seconds. Even the cleaning crews took off. Of course there was the time osha came on the scene and told the super that he could not take down the temp hand rail on the stairs until the permenant one was put up. Now does that make sense? Heavy hand of government right there.

IMO things are much worse in Florida (at least in the construction industry) I have freinds down there who can't buy a job while we can still bid work here. Houses are up for sale everywhere and few are selling. Feels like a different country down there.

Of course just a few years ago that state enjoyed a huge real estate surge with prices for houses being inflated up to two times what they were worth....now alot of guilty and innocent people are paying for that.

My wifes aunt and uncle who live in St Pete were just in town Sunday for their family reunion said things were rough in the Sunshine State, said people were just packing up and living their houses everywhere.Guess everything that glitters isn't gold.
