I really don't think steroids or other enhancing drugs have been a part of the sporting world for more than the past 30 to 40 years. Granted there might have been athletes who devised some way to cheat but normally they were found out. The big drug kick in America really didn't materialize until the late 60's and 70's (the hippie culture). Sure there have been abusers since the beginning of recorded time but it was the hippie culture that brought drug use/abuse out of the shadows and into everyday society.

By making a comparison between Hank Aaron and Barry Bonds the one who used enhancement drugs is quite obvious. The same applies to Sammy Sosa and Willie Mays. The athletes who resort to "something extra" is quite obviious.

I made the reference to athletes as a comparison. This is a discussion about a record breaking bass not drug addicted professional athletes. My point was that anytime a RECORD is broken via some form of manipulation the NEW ROCORD should be dis-allowed. This is simple basic fairness.

So yes or no. If a world record LMB is caught in Texas or California, would you consider it legit?

Performance enhancing drugs have been used since the dawn of man. it's only recently that we have been doing what we can to track it down. There is no way to be sure there isn't someone in the hall of fame right now (even the guys you mentioned) that did or didn't use them. We only have the word of the players and as most of us know the word of drug users isn't exactly trust worthy. So your obvious isn't so obvious.

all of our fisheries in the US have been modified by man in some way shape or form. there is not one body of pristine water left in the US. Even our farm ponds have been polluted with hormones and other chemicals from farming and landscaping industries that could be seen as enhancing the ecosystem. When you enhance that water you enhance everything that lives in it for better or worse.

As said before if you don't like the idea that Japan tied or holds the record then improve our fisheries or improve your angling either way stop trying to improve your excuse.

Please just drop your train wreck of an excuse. It's increasingly more difficult to watch, you are ruining a wonderful thread and making a fool out of American Sport fishermen

Have YOU even READ anything I have posted in the topic??????????? Obviously you only pick a word here and there and then make your judgement.

If your assesment of the subject matter were correct anyone with the money and the know how could manipulate any species of critter in order to "build" them a NEW WORLD RECORD. I can see it now a pond sanitized and climate controlled and stocked with only record class bass offspring and fed as many trout and other highly nutritious food sources as they can handle and within a few years some guy says he tossed a bait into the water and what do you know a 30 pound bass and a NEW WORLD RECORD.

If this is your idea of a fair and level playing field then that is your right but don't try to demonize myself or others for standing up for what we feel is right.

The only FOOLS in American sportfishing will be the ones who bow down and enbrace this NEW WORLD RECORD.

This only shows how little you know and understand what you are talking about. There are WAY more PED than Steroids.

Chewing (really you are sucking) coca leaves to help the body metabolize Oxygen more effectively has been around since before documented history.

I guess you won't heed good advice. Not surprising I suppose.

What GOOD ADVICE are you implying. So far all I have seen is opinion backed by more opinion with a personal jab occasionally thrown in.

You are trying to imply that the athletes such as the BABE or MAYS may have used illegal substances during their career. Let's see some proof to back this up. I assume you DO HAVE somethig other than your opinion to back your claims (???)

I did a little reserach for you about performance enhancement drugs in the sporting venue:

    http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/200...ine/index.html

As you can surely see that IF the BABE or MAYS had used performance enhancement drugs it was not illegal at the time they played.

NOW if you are implying that the BABE "sucked" coca leaves then that would be a different story. Please post your soruce material for such an implication??????????????
