spinnerbaits at night? why can,t I hook up!

Sounds like the spinnerbait you are using may have too long a wire. Sometimes when they hit real aggressive versus just closing their mouth you will get alot of glance hits and not hookups. Make sure you have a good SHARP hook and make sure the upper arm and the blade isn't interfering with the exposure of your hook.

The amount of times you mentioned is way over the top on something like this happening.
I'd change spinnerbaits and try again.

Other poster on the redeye theory may have it figured out though......

I am going to switch spinnerbaits and use a shorter wire they were on black last night no blade hits all hookups but I did use a 1/2 inch shorter wire.

LOL, Yea I went the long way around just saying Short Arm spinnerbaits.
