New world record Bass ?

Guys -
Head over to the Bassmaster web site http://sports.espn.go.com/outdoors/b...Japan_20090702 they have a story on a Japan fisherman having caught the 22 pound 5 ounce bass { Perrys record is 22lb 4oz } in a Japan lake , Lake Biwa , the biggest lake in Japan . The story says in order to be record it has to be 2 oz bigger than Perrys so it will probably be a tie . Its a freaky looking fish .

Wow! That's a really fat fish and 29 inches long and weight 22 lbs. I didn't think Japan has bass that big. It kind of dumb to require at least 2 more ounces to break a record. So that dude tied the record, does that mean he won't get the million dollar prize?

I don't think there is a set prize for the world record bass. If I recall correctly from an article I read, it depended on many things; the tackle being used and if the company of that tackled kicked in any money and any speaking events the person was invited to attend. I believe the speculation was from that sort of thing a guy could get a million bucks.

Should be interesting to see the outcome none the less.
