That is typically how I do it I can't speak for others. I'm sure there are people doing better than I at catching them that would have some useful advise.

Thanks for the info. I usually put in at the state dock and see a lot of people fishing by the dam often. I was there two weekends ago and saw them in the jumps big time, just didn't know what to use to try and get one on. So basically you have to find the baitfish and then go from there?

I am going back to Rough this weekend fishing sun night through mon morning. I will post my results here on Monday. Any other suggestions for largemouth and hybrids on Rough anyone?
If you see some hybrids in the jumps throw a chrome zara puppy at them. I filled both my livewells at Nolin doing that. It was a blast. I just followed them around with the trolling motor, waiting for them to bust on the top of the water and I would immediately throw to where they just splashed.
I went last weekend, but didn't really get to bass fish as much as I would have liked. Was too busy baiting and retying 6 kids bluegill hooks. The hybrids were definitely in the jumps. I couldn't seem to catch any though. The most jumps I saw were up near the dam or at the mouths of major creeks.
I did manage to hook about a 6 pounder using live bluegill around the dock. It ate two of my 7 yr olds bluegill as he was bluegill fishing.
I dropped a 5 inch bluegill down on a treble hook and wham. I set the hook immediately the first time and he just let go of the bluegill. The kids supplied some more bait. I dropped down the second bluegill and wham. I let him have it for awhile the second time and hooked the big ole bass, but he came unbuttoned.
Anyone ever used live bluegill to catch a bass. If I ever do this again what size hook should I use? How should I hook the bluegill? Through the back? Through the mouth? Made for an interesting video anyway.
I've never used live bluegill for largemouth, but I have for hybrids. I usually hook them through the back with 1/O-2/O hook. Sounds like fun! Nice to have those little ones there supplying the bait! lol!
