    Re: Barren River Lake?

sorry, i have not checked to board lately. i live on brl and fish everyday i dont have to work. despite reports here is the low down. thurs night tournament had the lowest weight i have seen yet this year. 8lbs not the usual 12 or so. the water temp yesterday before it rained last night was 87-88 in most places. depends on time of day as to where fish are. early am 533am sunrise- very shallow on points 1-3ft. but as the sun starts to really warm up by 9am they can be found in about 15ft of water REALLY close to structure. its odd this year compared to last years notes. can seem to find them moving mid range, its either super shallow or what i consider deep 15ft. another oddity is that one day you might fish 15 or so feet on structure and load the boat on a point next to the channel, and the very next day go to the same spot, same time, same conditions and not even get a dink. they are very hard to pattern right now. seems like the fish dont even know what they want to do. barren has had the following conditions however this year. 1. heavy early rainfall with high lake levels early. 2. up and down level due to the heavy rain fall. 3. quick water temp increase (the 2 hot weeks we had without rain). the best percentage you will have is to catch bass is to hit as many points as you can. and i can tell you, once you find one fish, the school wont be to far away. its feast or famine right now. hurricane creek from the main lake back about 2-3rds into the creek is fair, walnut creek has produced some hogs this year, but i havent located any there. hope this helps, and please please always catch and release (take a camera if you want to keep the bass so to speak).
