Beats the crap out of work! Nice

Snuck away from work today to fish the river during the hottest part of the day 11-3:30pm. Turned out to not be too bad of an idea!! Water was 80-82 and very stained. The key was to fish SLOW. Smaller bass would not hit the crankbait hard, they just mouthed it like a worm-very strange. I missed who knows how many before I figured that out when my lure was running sideways!! Good news is the bigger bass nailed the lure! Fished for 4 1/2 hours and landed 12 bass (9 keepers-biggest at 18 inches LM and a 15 inch SM), lost one LM that would have gone 4#+, (he jumped twice), 2 big drum (5lb +), 1 small drum, and two break offs from big fish-either big drums or I suspect one was a muskie. All caught on a crankbait-any color as long as it was fire tiger, very slow and just off the bottom. Lots of debris still floating though so be careful!!!

What part of KY River? I have a friend that lives in Frankfort and he has invited me to go fishing with him on the Ky. river there in Frankfort.
I fished two pools up from Frankfort-Nonesuch Cummins Ferry access. I heard that the pool up from there-Camp Nelson and High Bridge that they are catching a lot of nice bass there on spinnerbaits on timber close to the banks. Water is clearing a little more.
Good luck!
Fished Camp Nelson area yesterday afternoon/evening. We caught a few. Most were caught on spinnerbait. Water is clearing and looking good. A little more flow would have been nice.

Hit the river again early Sunday morning. Found some activity-something busting bait near the banks and started casting. Caught 3 nice bass 15-17 inches each along with some smaller ones in about 20 minutes on anything we could throw. Then the flow slowed and the fish did as well, with exception to the gar that would scare the crap out of you when they would hit the buzzbait. Went to below the dam and caught drum, white bass and crappie on small crankbaits and one keeper sized bass on a senko before it got too hot. Not a bad couple of hours. Color is great, wish there was more flow to the river and it would be better.
