    catfish at t-ville

ME and some friends have recently been trying these noodle "jugs" for catfish out here. I set out about 10 or so and keep an eye on them while I bass fish. All my buddies have been catching the fire out of cats but not me. I've tried chickenlivers, gizzards, and shrimp with no luck . What am I doing wrong? What areas are good to try and how deep should I fish. Thanks for any suggestions. P.S. Bass are biting well on cranbaits in Jack's Creek

With the bait your using it sounds like your targeting channels. I would use shad whole or cut, skipjack or bluegill. I fish mainly the river but I'm sure the lakes are simular as far as fishing ledges and drops close to shallow areas this time of year. I find the males are shallower than the females right now so go alittle deeper for bigger fish. Hope this helps...Chuck

Perhaps you should ask your buddies what they are doing differently.

Chuck is da man on Cats and what he has told you is dead on. I've got a buddy/business friend and he and his buddy slay them out there on Noodles. Shad is the ticket, they kill'em on Shad.

Also vary your depths don't make all your noodles the same. Put some fairly shallow and others as deep as fifteen feet or so. Fish near channel breaks and bends in channels, and calculate your start and stop drift estimation with wind and current flow.
