I have to say the topwater bite on the waters that i fish, mainly rivers, creeks, ponds and small lakes has definately not been the best in the past couple years or so compared to previous ones. I have no idea what it is attributed to. I have thrown just about everything and every color, it just seems that i haven't caught as many topwater fish as i used to.

I've only fished top water once this year and that was yesterday. It was actually a little late for it as we didn't get out on time due to TM troubles but it was over cast. We did pretty well considering.. This was on Cumberland.

I've kinda noticed that too. Ive only had a couple days where the bass were really turned on this year, theyve been biting but not as aggressive as in years past, not sure why.

It would be down for me this year, By considerable amounts. I have even got away from my bread and butter topwater baits just to see if I could pull something off. It has been disappointing. A few fish here and there, but no consistant bite, at all.

I have actually been talking with the customers here in the shop lately and they have all expressed the same opinion on the matter. I wonder if it has to do with the water just finally starting to stabilize in places or what. All I know is Im ready for that bite to turn on, soon.

I would say the inconsistency of the weather in the spring has attributed to the funny year we have experienced so far. Weights in tournaments are down also compared to last year's results.

Topwater is by far my favorite presentation. I fished Sat. night on Nolin and couldnt buy a bite on any topwater lure. Yes, this is by far one of the worst years Ive had on topwater. As a matter of fact ive only caught one bass on a buzzbait this year....... Greg

the closest thing ive had to a top water bite was at willisburg and i was using a spinner bait just below the surface. i havent tried lately and it sounds like i havent been missing much. my youngest son (6) did catch one at willisburg on a chug bug. hated to put it back, but it was only 11 1/2 inches. it was his first bass while fishing for bass, pretty exciting for him and even more for myself.

I fish KY Lake almost exclusively and I can't buy a decent fish this year on top? Last year I was killing them on top and now all my fish are coming out of 20' plus feet of water.

It's has been slow for me too, about 3 weeks ago one morning I started fishing and within five min had one on, beside a log, about 3 lbs.. Then the very next cast another 3 lber back beside that log on a black buzz.Well the top water bite was on. I fished for 45 min with no hits. So I went to a crank and done pretty good. The next week the same thing, the first 5 min one on and that was it. Had to go too something else. Last Friday morning had one to roll at a buzz but no hookups.
