Yep .. I had a carp on a Hula popper. A crankbait, and a Jig. They can fight for sure.

Hit my neighbors pond early this morning with a topwater popper and on my first cast I had a huge explosion on it. I knew right away it wasnt a bass, but I figured it was a cat since I have caught one on top before. Man was I wrong it was a nasty grass carp. It was easily 40 inches and weighed in the 30 lb range. After 15 minutes he was wore out enough to land but I couldnt get him up on the bank without a net so I just got out my pliers and released him. Has anyone else caught a grass carp on a lure. Ive fished a million ponds with them in it and have never had one hit a lure before. My biggest fish in my 25 yrs on Earth. Was fun but wierd.

Yep. there's a big moma swimming in my dads pond with a brand new Man's minus one in its mouth.
Once caught one on a fly rod and a rubber spider. Woah Nellie.
Last year during the locus hatch I was at my local lake every day after work to catch carp on top waters. The carp were gorging them selves on the locas and I went to Wal Mart and bought the little bumble bugs and little ant looking things, took both hooks off and replaced just the back hook with a larger treble hook. We would just troll down the bank and when you would see a carp cast a few feet in front of him and hang on. Some of the explosion were vicious and others would just come up and **** them down. I am counting down the days until the next locus hatch. HAHAHA!!
I've heard of people fish for them with fly popper. I snagged a carp on the back once with a crankbait. I had to sit down, took a break after I got my crankbait back.
