Geo, I think a couple of my feelings would have been hurt had you not responded You had me thinking I was some kind of ecomonic guru with such excellent fund picks that my 401k was going up while everyone else's was still tanking. Then I did a quick google and found that, while the stock market has bounced around a lot, it has steadily increased increased for the last 6 months (http://money.cnn.com/quote/chart/cha...ubmit1=Refresh or google yourself) judging by the S&P 500. (btw, Andrew, not Andy).

Glad to see that you and DH appreciated the last paragraph and are coming around to my way of thinking. There is hope for both of you yet

DH, ecomonic problems started under Clinton and got no better under Bush. And yes, the current rate of spending does make me uneasy. I don't think anyone expected the stimulus to magically bounce us right out of a recession immediately.
