Brillant plan! Last time we tried that was Hoover. You might remember reading about the great depression in history class.
Kind of early to be critizing for the damage done don't you think? It will be a while before we know the outcome of these desisions. Hell, it will be a while before we can fully know the outcome of desisions the last two administrations made. I do know that my 401K was tanking for 3 quarters straight. The last quarter, it reversed a lot of that. Job losses are slowing, housing market improving. Signs that we are pulling out of the recession?
Do I agree with everything that has been done over the last six months, no, but I am willing to give them the chance to fix things and head us in the right direction. Don't like how things are going, vote out the dems in the mid-term elections. In some respects, it might not be a bad idea anyway. Have a dem Pres and a repub congress. Make the crooks work together and keep each other in check.
You want real change? How about this. Change the tax laws to a flat percentage of income. No loop holes. Everyone pays the same percentage (10%, 15%, whatever). Having to spend several hours to figure out taxes, use a computer program or hire an accountant is ridiculous. Welfare, sure, but its only a fall back for short periods to get someone through a crisis or tough spot. Sure, society owes some folks (a parent dies in the military we as a society have an obiligation to assist in raising their kids, for example). Set it up so you pay into a fund. You can only take out what you put in. If you take none out by the time you retire, you have an extra retirement plan. Line item veto (yeah, I know, they fumbled something like that under Clinton). President can veto the pork out of a bill. Congress doesn't like it, they can over ride each pork project. Easier to keep them accountable that way. Term limits, NOW! I really doubt that our founding fathers intended people to spend 30-40 years in congress.
