    Re: Health Insurance Stuff......

George, Mr. Obama wants the folks who pay to take care of their families and themselves to pay for taking care of everyone, including those who've never hit a productive lick in their lives. Nevermind there's an abundance of federal and state sponsored insurance programs available to low income, single parent families, and pretty much anyone who cares enough use it. Our current government will settle for nothing less than some form of social medicine, under government control. You can always tell what government control is, just look for the nearest mindless, expensive and inefficient bureaucratic mess in sight. And voila! You've found it. (Sorry, the Froganese word seemed to fit.)

GEO, I have the same Insurance as you and let me tell ya, the intitial sticker shock *****. However, once you sit down and think about it, my insurance really can save me thousands and thousands of dollars.

I plan to contribute enough $ every pay period that by the end of the year I will have enough to meet my deductible. If I dont use it, I will have plenty of money in my HSA to purchase a plan with a higher deductible and lower premioums and keep contributing, so that in the event I need to plop some cash down for a major medical expense I pull out my HSA card (pretty much just like a debit card), swipe it, pay the bill, and my checking account is safe!

Yes.....you and I ARE in the same boat.........and the HSA with the DEBIT card really works well......AND I KNOW EXACTLY WHAT I'M PAYING.

NO ******** you pay this because you have insurance, and YOU PAY this because you don't.........Now don't get me wrong.....I ALWAYS let the provider know I'm on a HSA and that those DOLLARS they are charging ME are being PAID by ME.........

We still have some negotiated contracts, because we're a LARGE GROUP, but the days of 5 dollar drugs, and 10 dollar DR visits are OVER.

    Later,

One other thing......the only thing I have not figured out, and worries me is the ONGOING medical issues. If I had an ongoing medical condition that ended up causing lots of visits a year, I'd have a problem meeting the deductable, especially if I was out of work or something.

I still need to figure that out.....but for the most part, I'm with you on re adjusting my plan each year to get a higher and higher deductible........I started out with the 2500, then went to 3600 and am now at 4800.

    Later,

    Geo

    Re: Health Insurance Stuff......

HSAs were a good form of health insurance--too bad they won't be around much longer. From what I have seen, I don't think that either the House or the Senate versions touched on them YET, but you can bet that if there is money in them they will figure out some way to tax them. They keep saying that they are not going to tax health insurance premiums but they keep including the tax on premiums in their promotions of how they will pay for the SOCIALIZED HEALTH INSURANCE.

I heard this afternoon how they plan to tax small businesses to pay for the Health Insurance for the poor--real smart to add more taxes on businesses that are laying off people in a recession. Maybe their ultimate plan is to have the government run all businesses (like they are running General Motors, et al)--I think Lenin called that the people's Communism.

    Good luck,

    Grumpy
