APB........401K stuff.....my BAD.........

I've been doing some deeper research into my 401K and have found the following:

First quarter earnings were at - 15%
Second Quarter earnings were at 19.8%

Q1 -15.4%
Q2 19.8%
Q3 n/a
Q4 n/a


While I still say the market ***** and I'm WAY down in my retirement accounts, you're right about a bounceback. 19% bounce over 3 months is pretty **** good.

I'm still only at 2% growth, which needs to be about 20% to see my funds replenish, but hey.....it's better than nothin.

Now I only need to figure out if it is WORTH taking SERIOUS losses, on what I have, and reinvesting in positive growth stuff right now......

TOUGH decisions......

Thats a tough call right there. I left mine alone (lazy and ignorant on that stuff) and I guess I did benefit from buying low and getting more for my buck....

Glad to hear that things are looking up in that deptartment for you. The second quarter of this year is the first time I had not had a lose in a while. I know the last 3 quarters in a row were down. I'm still not back to where I was, but things are at least looking positive. Gotta have that 401k to insure I'm doing a whole lotta fishing (and not for food!) about 20 years from now

Well my 401k is now a 200.5k LOL Not really. I left work in January 2008 and have not looked back.

Since I "quit"ired I have no pension,no health benefits,etc. But is was still the second best thing I've ever done. The first was getting married 29 years ago to my life partner and mother of my children.

I have always lived well below my means and saved from the time I was 12 years old. I just figured money in the bank will do me do good when I'm in my grave (cremation urn) so I might as well start spending it now.

It's been a year and half now since I quitired and I am absolutely loving it.
