“I'm asking for all of them to identify at least $100 million in additional cuts to their administrative budgets, separate and apart from the work that [Office of Management and Budget Director] Peter Orszag and the rest of our team are doing, to go line by line with the budget and identify programmatic cuts that need to be made,” the President said at his first cabinet meeting on April 20.

In a background document released that day, the White House said the president “will challenge his cabinet to cut a collective 100 million dollars in the next 90 days. Agencies will be required to report back with their savings at the end of 90 days.”

Technically the 90 days were up on Sunday. But Monday [July 20] was the first business day for government agencies since the deadline. As of midday Monday, the White House had not announced any additional administrative spending cuts.
