    Generational Comment

Either I was born too soon or I have lived too long to understand today's people.

I was just in a store waiting at the check out counter. A man, probably in his late twenties, had a young boy with him, who looked to be about six or seven, eight years old at the most. The boy had a tatoo on each side of his neck and one on his arm (that I could see). The tatoos were not real big but they were sure colorful and obvious. I am sure they were real and not painted or press-on.

What is really scary is that in 30 years or so--Rap Music will be the "Golden Oldies"!!

    Think of this:
    1. What culture shock did we go thru to get from the "Big Bands" to the Beetles?
    2. Then how did we get from the Beetles to Heavy Metal?
    3. Then from Metal to Rap

Instead of focusing on what it will be like for Rap to be golden oldies, given how much we've seen change, and the direcction it has been headed, just think about what is going to come after rap? That really scares me......

The World as we know it is supposed to end on Dec 21st,2012 according to the Mayans and Nostradumbass.
Any parent that allows their kid to run around with tattoos all over, holes poked all over their bodies, bones in their noses, and listening to kill whitey music is as much at fault as the kids doing it.You reap what you sow.

Great, at least I know how to dance to that! I just don't want the women of America to have to start wearing veils. I don't want to ACCIDENTALLY pick up my wife at a bar.

I feel the same way....for some reason I just can't see why all the young folks are plastering themselves with tatoos. Being an "older" guy myself I do remember a lot of fads that have come and gone over the years re hair styles, clothes etc...but all of these fads were easily reversable...tatoos are not. I have a niece that, no kidding, is so good looking that she could hold her own in any fashion magazine as a top model or win any beauty contest she entered...when she walks in a store or anywhere else we have taken her, every male eye in the room is on her, but over the past year she has gotten tatoos on her arms, neck and back and most likely other places that I have never seen. What used to be one of the most beautiful young ladies I have ever seen now looks like she just got off the back of Billy Bobs Harley because of all the tatoos. I just do not understand doing this to one's self..yeah...it is the fad now but what happens a few years from now when this fad is over? Also, in reference to the little boy you saw with tatoos...in my opinion a parent should be jailed for doing this to their young kids...if a kid wants a tatoo, they should have to wait until they are of an age to make a rational judgement that they want to put a permanent picture on their body to live with the rest of their life...guess I am just getting old too, or maybe I have a little more common sense.

I don't get it either fellas. I guess we are just old farts, lol. I really don't understand the tatoo thing. I'm with Dave the parent that let a child that young get a tatoo must be partially braindead, if not completely. Kids that age haven't even slightly grown into their body frame yet, what will them things look like when they actually reach their full body potential. It's like ole Ron White says. ''You Can't Fix Stupid''.

    Guys-
First off, I'm sure those were not real tattoes. Tattoe shops will not touch minors, especially kids. There are some very real looking temp tattoes now days. Secondly, I'm in my late twenties and I don't care for tattoes either. I had many friends that had them done, and now they are not so thrill about them. Yeah you can have them taken off, but at the high financial and physical cost! No offense to those out there that have them, to each their own, just my 2 cents.

    Re: Generational Comment

Rich, before I posted I looked up the KY Regulations on Tatoos for minors and ANY minor can get a tatoo with the WRITTEN CONSENT of a parent or guardian. I have never been in a tatoo shop so I don't know the actual practice; however, if those were fake, those parents still need to be shot for teaching/allowing a child that young to think that tatooing is an acceptable way of getting attention.

Well..I guess I'm a litte different on the opinion of tattoo's. I kind of like them to some degree and to a certain extent, only IF they are done tastefully. I do not consider any of those neck tattoo's to be tasteful at all...in fact it's down right stupid!! Generally speaking a lot of tattoo's I see are ok with me.

Now let's go ahead and assume the child Grumpy witnessed was sporting a fake or stick on tattoo...This right here in itself is wrong in my opinion...a tattoo is something very personal that should be totally decided upon by the owner of the body. All the parent of the child is doing is adding to the corruption of the world in my opinion. I can see it now: "Yes son, I can't get you a tattoo now because you need to decide on your own after you become an adult as to if you really do want one, but until then go ahead and wear these stick on's and you'll be cool." No...I don't think so...kids and tattoo's do not mix, not even of the stick on variety.

For the record I am tattoo-less, no piercings or anything else to, as they say, "express" myself. But I have several friends who are.
