not a big crappi fisherman either but have some friends that fish for them regularly and just a few days ago they was catching them on live minnows in 10-12 feet of water around stickups and homemade fish hides.

I always have bass fished but I tasted crappie not to long ago and would like to catch some of my own. Do you locate them on your fish finder, I always do not trust when it shows fish. I have tried a itsy bitsy jig with a crappie bite with no luck. Have caught a couple on a rattle trap. Any help would be appriciated. Thanks Bob

Here is the link to the best site on the web for crappie: www.crappie.com. Join it's free. Go to the Forums. They have all kinds of good info on Ohio, Ky, and Indiana, as well as other states. I fish for crappie as much as bass. Look for laydowns, use 6lb test line, 1/16 oz jig with a tube or curlytail grub. Can't go wrong with chartreuse, black/chartreuse, red/white, blue/white. Live bait with a float & minnow, use a #2 aberdeen hook. In our area, AJ Jolly, Kincaid, Boltz, Williamstown, East Fork, and Brookville are the better lakes. The tribs on the Ohio River can be good too.
