I have never liked these rods at all for the same reasons boyd left. I just couldnt trust anything that light, and didnt think they would hold up. Thats why I bought kistlers and love kistler rods! Anyway Read what he had to say about the subject.Just thought i would share this info with you all.

You have to hand it to boyd he didn't look the other way over the all mighty dollar. He stood up for what he felt was right and that don't happen much these days especially when it involves money.

Yes..........an HONORABLE man in the sport.......much better than lots of others and the JUNK they put their name on......

There are a couple HIGH END GUYS that will endorse just about anything.

Glad to see a good ole boy do the right thing.

You know if you read any of my other post about Carrot Stix I highly regard mine, and I agree with what Boyd said -

I agree with the construction issues - yet I haven't seen one, especially in the LTX line I haven't bought any of the gold series and probably won't, but the "financial instability" really sticks a thorn in my leg, in this economy who is safe? who is stable? especially when you are talking about a product that relies on the "recreational" aspect of usage. You know there probably aren't many if any guys on here that own an Eagle Claw" rod - even though they are out there, be it scarce but now that Skeet Reese is going to promote watch them sell very quickly. Yet Eagle claw has been around for years and years and have out rods out that are less than average? They are promoting "over the counter" warrantees and they will have alot of returns that is just common sense, ask shimano about how many Cumara's have been returned and I think the number will be staggering (I love the cumara's also), Loomis had tons of returns but charged a fee, yet you were less likely to take one in because you shut it in your rod box, with the E21's there are no questions asked - as well with the Shimano's.

If Boyd would have stopped the comments with the quality issues I would applaude his endevour but in a tough economy don't string them through the mud like that especially when you have had a less than steelar year yourself (I REALLY like Boyd too), and they have stood beside you as well. Wonder if eagle claw is in his near future?

I dont own any of theese rods. i never liked them from the get go. i purchased a shimano crucial and 2 st. croix ledgen rods and my cousin who owns three carrot's claims he likes my crucial better than the carrot stix.

i think its a strong act on Boyd's part and shows that he has some backbone and that its got to be a quality product before his name goes in the mix with it. most would not do this.

I never thought of it like that - you could very well be right, or they could have been re-negotiating also???? There is allot of that going on, if that was the case I wish he would have put it like that, and people like what they like some people have bigger hands and like the feel of a bigger grip, some like double footed eyes etc.. which is why i wouldn't discount one for the other - for instance when I bought a carrot stix rod the two I was chosing from was the crucial or the e21 and it came to balance "for me" jmo

bassking, what size crucial did you purchase? rustedhook fishes with a 6'8" that he loves. i'm looking at that size or perhaps a bit longer.

i have a 7ft, MH action with the fast tip. i use it for medium to large crankbaits and have recently been throwing swimbaits with it.
