    Re: friend got a ticket

That's the law and that's the way it goes. I fish for stripers at night in the spring and when 10 feet from the bank fishing I never have them on, it spooks the linesides. Is it wrong and I know it......Yes. If I get a ticket doing it and know it's wrong I'll just look at him and say....Your right and I'll pay the fine.

I've got mixed emotions about this law. It could be tweaked I think for fisherman litterally on the bank or within a certain distance, just some food for thought.

    Re: friend got a ticket

I bet most of us have a story about almost hitting a boat because of no lights. About a month ago, me and a couple buddies were headed back to the ramp at Tville with our lights on, it wasn't pitch dark, but close. We came around a point and right out in the middle of the lake was a boat with no lights. I looked over at my buddy driving and could tell he didn't even see it, so I yelled at him. He let up and said "What boat???" Then he finally saw it. Dangerous stuff man, get those lights on. If you have to think about whether it's too dark or not, go ahead and get em on...

    Re: friend got a ticket

I fish for them in the spring close to the bank and I leave my anchor light on. I can't say I do any worse than the next guy. BUT, fishing this time of year, which means off the bank and in plane waters without lights is way not smart on so many levels. For one thing, the fish aren't gonna care when they are 30 ft or more down.

    Re: friend got a ticket

i have almost hit a boat on the river because no lights were on. but , it wasnt the other boaters faught nor mine just a bit of bad luck for him. he had locked through Mcalpine from coxes park and his battery bit the dust so he was glad to see us at 3am since he had been there since 6pm the previous evening. we towed him across the river to middle creek boat ramp (111 ramp) let him use a cell phone and his freinfd picked his truck and trailer up and came and got him.

i always run the directional lights and the white anchor light and usally have on a hat light that has a setting that blinks. i have always felt you have to be more aware of the other boaters incase they are not being careful.

    Re: friend got a ticket

The reason I have not almost ran over people with no lights on is because I have headlights on my boat(also a ticketable offense).
