How's the bass fishing at monroe? any help would be appreciated.
I have not been there in about 2 months, however last I heard good numbers being caught not much size those. My last trip yielded several decent fish with a 4 1/2 lb kicker. Mostly 10-12" spots on spinnerbaits. Talked to guide today that said hybrid fishing in the evenings has been producing limits in about 5 hours of trolling. That's all I got
Monroe is tough right now. I went Thursday and caught about 11-12 bass.....only three keepers. Biggest was a 16 in. Spot on topwater....most came on finesse type stuff. Anyone catching them out on structure????
thanks for the info....would there be alot of weeds in this lake....never really fished it.
I have not found much if any weeds there this year. Two years of big spring floods are to thank for that! Water temps are still in the low 80's so some fish (small ones) have stayed shallow. If you see Stripers busting shad throw a topwater plug /liplesscrankbait at the school.....if you hook one hold on!!!
If you go on a cloudy/rainy day don't hesitate to troll for some eyes (Walleye). The first time that i went there this year we went after the eyes and had three hooked caught two. Not only did we catch 2 20"+ eyes but also a handful of smaller crappie and a 6 1/2 pound flathead. Just a thought.
shane what part of the lake do you catch the eyes? I have been up there 4 or 5 times this year trying to catch walleye and have not caught one.
Hey do you work at BPS?
Many of our kids at Kid and Co. find keeper bass this time each year, so it's possible. In fact, it is sometimes embarrassing to some of us adults who might fish for fun the day before and can't get a bite anywhere! It helps to know the lake ....just like anywhere else. Go to www.indianabassngals.org click on photos, go to kid and co and you will see Monroe August bass.
