    Powell/Repubs

Some quotes below from Powell's interview on Larry King. I like his take on things. If the repubs could actually get him to run, or someone with a similar view on things, they would have a candidate worth voting for. Certainly better than our last two options. Thoughts?

    Andrew

His vision for a Republican resurgence involves finding "some way to reach out and draw moderates and independents more toward the right so that we can build a party that will win." ........ "I know what I stand for, and people know what I stand for. I stand for a strong defense. I stand for a reaching-out foreign policy. I stand for responsibility in government, responsibility in our daily lives. And I am very socially moderate, which troubles a number of people in the party, but I am."

He also said the GOP needs to get back to its philosophical roots, the party of less government. "I believe what the Republican Party ought to focus on is limited, effective government, with the emphasis being effective, and not just using slogans like 'limited.'

"The deficit increased during the previous eight Republican years. We created more government, not less government. What the American people want is . . . government that works. They want a health care system that takes care of them. They want homeland security."

Yea.....I watched some of it.............but my take was he SCREWED UP, and KNOWS it........but you know what....SORRY CHARLIE.

He is DONE with politics, and his view no longer matters, especially since he KNEW what kind of democrat Obama was and still chose to vote for him. He is the same as my buddy here at work. REPUB all the way, but still voted for Obama.......WHY.........you know WHY.....and that is just as good as throwing your vote away if you ask me.

Now, he is slowing trying to inch his way back into the pubs good graces.......RIGHT.....

He is and WAS a GREAT military leader............is and WAS a GREAT sec of state....first term, at least.....but he's DONE.......His SLOBERING love affair with Obama will be very hard to overcome.......

    Later,

That is a COMPLETE contradiction of the above statement of being a socially moderate republican..........NOT possible to have limited and EFFECTIVE government.......SHOW me ONE case where it works........

    JUST ONE.

I believe you are right that his politician days are over. Doesn't seem like he is all that interested either. His comments on where the repubs need to be, I feel, are dead on.

    Re: Powell/Repubs

We did offer up a politian out of the same mold of Powell. His name was McCain and Powell voted against him. The only thing I agree with him on is we need less government not more. Even God allows us to fail(no I'm not talking about BHO). This government needs to stop being so high and mighty. We give them the power. His idea of where the repubs need to be is way off. They tried it and it didn't work. Bush was alot like BHO in that he loved to spend money. I don't think he saw a spending bill he didn't like. Now BHO blames him for all the money that has been spent in the current administration. Bush likes the illegal alien vote and so does BHO. What fence. I don't see no stinkin fence. There was a boarder gaurd killed recently and I might have missed it, but where was the outrage from BHO? So what is the difference between McCain/Bush and BHO? One has a D after his name and the others have an R. Doesn't mean much.

Those two statements appear to be a contradiction. I do agree that anymore there is not much difference between the various parties anymore.

I don't see any contradiction. They are all liberal.
