Seat Belts for Boats

OK here comes the open can of worms........Other than the boat flipping over upside down. Why do we not have seat belts for the high performance boats. I have been bounced around enough when running at 60+mph and have offen wondered how I could stay in the seat instead of bouncing out.

Most of the accidents are from being thrown out of the boat. One would think that a quick release buckle would work.

May some other anglers have some ideas. Fish arn't biting guess I have too mch time on my hands.

I agree, they would be especially useful when for some unknown reason YOUR boat unexpectedly does almost a 180 turn and almost throws your passanger out of the boat.

that is a good question..... but i would say its cause of the safety of drowning and stuff.... plus a boat is a pleasure thing adn thats kinda taboo on safety and laws and stuff...

Ok I'll bite. Why were you bounced around enough to be concerned? To fast for conditions? Bow hook? Hit something? I personally don't want to be strapped in the boat. If I'm coming out of the seat, I slow down. I would rather get tossed away from the boat with my PFD on.

Agreed, no way would I want to be stuck inside the boat and possibly drown. I would rather take my chances with a kill switch and pfd.

it would not be difficult to adapt a car racing harness. I don't think you guys have any idea how much abuse your backs are going to take by being tied in. Unless you have a real suspension seat you are going to be beat to death. I'm guessing billm_usa1 didn't have your standard bass boat seat in his 150 MPH hydroplane.
