Does bluegill bite afterdark?

I've had what I am 99% sure were bluegill bites on plastic worms while night fishing. That rat-a-tat-tat is hard to mistake for a bass bite I think.

Probably Warmouth or Rockbass. I'm not saying it doesn't happen but bluegill are very inactive after dark. They are litterally hiding, it's a self preservation thing. They are very vulnerable after dark to larger prey.
