I've been going up and down from there. Hinkston looks right up my ally, but I'll need to pull the map to plot a trip. Houston is the puzzler for me. Am I right that Paris pike crosses Houston just as you're coming into town past the Jerry's? Then passes under Hume-Bedford? Then connects just below the dam at 68? (I know, pull the map retard.) Anyway, thanks for being so generous with the info. - Dr.B

That is Houston Creek. It can be difficult to float as there are numerous very long, shallow riffles followed by some rather deep (6-8 foot) holes and stretches. Portage is often AND that creek will flash flood in the shallow spots almost immediately if it rains but also go down faster than any others in the area.

i have fished some areas of houston creek as well from the paris pike area out of what is now houston oaks golf course around to the bypass bridge by the food lion grocery store. I have caught a few decent fish out of that stretch of water but it is a pain to navigate and many areas have a low canopy of trees that make it hard to cast at times. I wouldn't bother to fish in toward town any further as it goes through some not so great parts of town and the banks really just turn to mud and no good structure. i honestly don't think that creek is worth the time and effort it takes unless you just wanna say that you have done it. i would definately rather fish some other areas.

Thanks Dr.B, I just purchased a Yak and I want to try some remote areas.
