I have become a big fan of the split-handle type rods ... I bought a St. Croix Mojo and love it, but I am venturing out looking at different brands. Has anyone fished or heard anything about the Falcon BuCoo or any other affordable split-handle rod?

Would like the Skeet Reese rod, but the model I like is 7'2''

I havent heard anyne who has a bucoo, but I have also had my eye on one of those. The ICAST video done by Mike McClelland says the bucoos only weigh 3 to 4 ounces. Also Abu Garcia is getting back into the rod market. They have a split grip rod series coming out called the Vendetta. I believe they are goin to sell for $80-$100 also. Handles are split grip EVA foam just like bucoos. The Vendettas are supposed to be factory tuned to balance perfectly with there Revo series reels. Tacklewarehouse.com has all the ICAST videos to check out. Im nor sure when the Vendettas will be available, but they look real good. If anyone has anymore info about the Vendettas or the Bucoos I would like to know also

Not sure the BuCoo has even hit the market yet. When they do, the challenge will be finding anyone who has them.

My recommendation is that you look at the Powell rods. They have been around for about 5 years now with bass rods with split grips. Great rods at $140. Significantly more rod then the MOJO.

American Legacy is a nice place to look around. They do have a ton of rods and some good looking lures.

I looked at the BuCoo in Nashville a couple of days ago at BPS. It is a good feeling rod. I was trying to decided between it, another St. Croix Avid or a Kisler MG. I had my buddy look them up on the internet for some reviews and I ended up going with a Falcon LowRider. Not a split grip, but it felt better to me than the others.

They had (I think) 3 casting rods and 3 spinning rods. Probably more in back though. The prices were from $99.99-$109. I don't think you would go wrong with the rod if you like the foam handle.

Bought a 6'6" BuCoo last week at BPS in Clarksville. $99.95 Put a REVO on it for spinnerbait fishing. So far I like it a lot. Good feel and plenty sensitive for a spinnerbait application. The "sponge" grip is OK and long enough for someone with very large hands (bout twice as long as the carrot stick grip). Time will tell as to durability and maybe warranty. I do think the action is a little on the high side. The MH seems more like a M to me. Hope this helps.

Berkley has one called the Shock series and it runs about $60 but i have yet to look at one in person. BPS is always sold out of them when i have been there the past few months. i have a freind who has one and he has bought several more after using it. i will be looking for one for myself to take a look at and see if its as good as he claims.
