I can not say this strongly enough, I HATE THAT LAKE!!!!

That said, in the spring, I have seen huge sacks brought in for tournament weigh ins, and in the summer, the only good fish I ever hear about come at night. So if you like night fishing, you could possibly do well. Well, you could do well even in the day. But I also saw your post on Rough, and Rough fishes a lot easier for me than does Malone.

You might try Nolin. I've fished it a few times, and it is also more fun than Malone, Though I hear Nolin is tough on weekends, and during the daytime in the summer.

I wish you luck, what ever you decide, Tight lines,

i understand about the boat issue. most of us that fish that lake think it is a silly rule. I can assure you there are boats running the lake every day that are illegal. Just because you have a 200 or 250 doesn't mean you have to run it wide open. Only a couple spots on that lake you can do that anyway. It just takes some common sense.
As far as the fishing, you are correct. Seems most the bigger fish are caught at night. after may it is a very tough lake during the day. There is a open friday night tourney each week and several every other week on saturday nights. Not uncommon at all to see several 6 or 7 lb fish brought to the scale. I have been lucky enough to do it myself several times.
Me and a fishing buddy of mine brought in close to 19 lbs one night on 3 fish limit.
fished a tourney there last week and 21 lbs on 5 fish limit won. 18 lbs was second.
