    Gift ideas ???????????

Ok guys/ girls i need a little help. I am leaving next saturday for a 5 day trip out of sarasota florida down the coast to captiva island. I am gonna be staying on a 2009 sea ray 60ft sundancer. So i was hoping some of you might be able to give me an idea of what type of gift you give the owners of a new boat when they have invited you on a trip and especially when its your girlfriends parents? I know what you are gonna say........what do they really need when they are living in florida and just dropped a million bucks on a boat? But seriously any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Get them some Ky Bourbon. Might go well after dinner while chillin' on the boat?

If the bourbon is too strong, how about getting some wine from the various Kentucky wineries? Or something along the lines of a "Kentucky Proud" gift basket with an assortment of KY delicacies? Country ham and beaten biscuits, beer cheese, etc. It could serve as a reminder of, or introduction to, Kentucky.

I am really appreciating the gift ideas. I guess I should have mentioned that they are Kentucky natives originally from the Paducah area and they spent alot of time on Kentucky lake and Barkely.........hold on, wait one minute here. Her dad spent his whole life on those great fisheries before moving to Florida and he told me he doesn't like to fish!!!!!!!!!......on second thought I think I am gonna run while I can!!!!!!! Just kidding!! Keep the gift ideas rolling. I'll report back with what I gave em' and how it went over.

Oh, and those of you who mention the beer cheese I have that taken care of as I am a partner in a newly started beer cheese company here locally, I am taking plenty of that down with me to pass around!

Go with the woodford reserve. Unless you can find a makers mark with Caliparis autograph.

I'm glad you posted this question on this site too...it's making me realize a lot of the regulars on here have more class than I previously gave them credit for...ok that's a joke...I think.

    Man, a 2009 60' Sundancer, WOW!

I sure wish I could take credit for this idea bourbon, but I mentioned this post to my wife, and she made a good point. If her parents can 'drop' a million on a boat, they don't need a gift that money can buy, so the best gift may to give them complete confidence that their little girl will be taken care of as if they were here to do it themselves. So, it's not about a material gift as much as it is about instilling them with the belief in your character. Yes a material gift is probably in order, but I imagine something simple, classy, and then your best behaviour and the confidence you leave with them, that you are a man of character.

Very well said, I definately agree with with you and your wife that it isn't about the monitary value of the the gift as much as it is showing the appreciation for the invitation to share time with them and their daughter on this trip and exhibiting a bit of character and thoughtfulness that comes from being a kentucky raised gentlemen. That is why I turned to you folks here on the board for ideas as I know you all are good people and would help me come up with some great ideas to help me extend my gratitude.
