    Squirrel Season this Saturday

1st phase of fall squirrel season opens Saturday, been cool all summer and turned hot this week, still may take my youngest out and give him some practice.Squirrels aren't as thick as they were a couple years ago,we had a bunch migrate here when they had a poor mast crop in Eastern Ky a few years ago and it appears like they returned last year or so,but still enough around to have some fun.
    Good Luck,
    Glenn P.

I will be going, might take my son if he is not too lazy to get up. I found a recipe for squirrel fajitas that I might have to try.

    Re: Squirrel Season this Saturday

Awe, memories........As a young boy and I mean young I couldn't wait to go squirrel hunting. We didn't have deer back in those days, heck if a guy saw a deer that was a big deal. Some of my fondest memories was hunting bushytails and the stalk and sneak. Then taking home to Mom and Dad and how proud I was to show what I brought for the table. I still believe those early squirrel days are what has made me a decent deer hunter today.

Thanks Glenn for taking me back for a moment, I sure miss my Dad.

Havent missed a opening day that I can remember in my life. Gonna have to miss this one though, all star tournament all weekend. Im sick of baseball. Only thing I aint gonna miss is the deer ticks though. I spray with everything and still get covered in them. Let us know how you do.

A short story, I had them so bad twice I ended up getting steroid shots each time. Thats not the serious one though, I bought permanone and sprayed my clothes and went hunting, some mosquitos were pestering me and I sprayed my cap, face and arms. The lesson I learned is that stuff will make you deathly sick! My heart was pounding and I thought I was dying! Lesson learned, read the label before using.

Well, didn't get to go this morning, overslept of all things. Going to try an evening hunt later today.

Took my little one Saturday morning,it was hot and humid here.We shot two grey squirrels pretty quick and passed on a big fox squirrel on the way out later.I went to my cousins farm that evening, but started finding some ginseng and spent more time digging ginseng instead of squirrel hunting.Going Ginseng hunting this morning on another farm I get permission to go on.

The son and I went out to Taylorsville Lake WMA Saturday evening and he got three and I got one, all three of his were greys but the only one I got was a bog ol' fox. Saw lots of deer, including a doe with three little ones.
