    Mike Vick

In case your not glued to sportscenter (like me) he is back in the NFL. What do you all think? I'm ok with it but when he was busted I was for him never coming back into the NFL....I guess we all need a helping hand sometimes.

He paid a SERIOUS price for his crimes.

Let the man play the game again.

    Later,

I think that if he stays with any team long enough they will see that he can do very well. IMO this man will play as hard as he ever has because he has had two years of missing the money and prestige.

    Re: Mike Vick

First of all I'm of the opinion that any form of ball sport is a complete waste of time to watch, let alone pay big bucks to attend....this is just my opinion. College basketball is "ok" occassionally, but I definately dont follow it with any regularity. My dad never cared for ball sports either so I guess it got passed down to me. Sport to us is fishing and that's about it, and horse racing too. Here again, this is just me and who I am.

Secondly...well I don't know, my wife is into training dog's (which is why she married me in the first place I guess, lol)...seriously she puts in a lot of volunteer time at the local humane society here, etc...plus we have a few dog's of our own, (not sure I can comment on this without having a biased opinion), but anyway...Vick did some pretty inhumane things didn't he? I mean that's some hardcore mistreatment of animals that he was involved in wasn't it? We all know we'll never know ALL the facts about high profile news stories, but things I have read/heard are he weeded out the "weak" dog's by drowning them, electrocuting them, etc...also heard that he stole other peoples dogs (family pets, some young and some old) who wouldn't stand a chance of fighting their way out of a paper sack, and used them in the ring against dog's he wanted to "move up" and excel in the ring.

I don't see how ANYONE can get into watching dog's fight till death...when I picture this scene in my mind I envision people standing around watching who only have about two teeth in their head. Vick was a "college graduate" wasn't he? I can't imagine why he stooped so low. Yea I know, if you do the crime AND if you do the time all should be forgiven, or at least given another chance because "justice" has been served. But I'm also under the impression that in a lot of cases a leopard never changes his spots. He might never get involved in dog fighting again but with his past mentallity who knows what he might get involved in next? I really don't think someone who has committed a fairly serious crime should be holding a position of employment that gets a lot of the publics attention.

Also, didn't Vick's younger brother play against U of L a couple of years ago and took a cheap shot at a U of L player by stomping on his calf after he was already on the ground? There could be some bad genes in the Vick's bloodline.

You all sure do bring some mighty heavy subjects here to discuss

Hey Chub, I never really thought about it the way you put it. I never kept close tabs on this story but your part about using family pets for training got me to thinking. My neighbors dog is missing and alot of dogs from my neighborhood over the yrs are missing. Could this be the reason these dogs are gone? I will always believe justice was served in this case cause a few NFL players have commited murder of humans and got a hand slap.

Man I hope thats not what happened in your neighborhood. The thought of it makes me ill.......I'm a big dog lover!

I think if he even gets close to any questionable characters who can shed bad light on the NFL and the Commish then he will be toast. Some of these guys are hardheaded but they like that money and they come around.

    Re: Mike Vick

I followed the story pretty closely and I never remember hearing about stealing others dogs. For the most part he wasn't even around for the training and such, although he did approve of it. I say let him play, he has done his time.

No Vick is not a college graduate, he left school early for the NFL. His brother Marcus Vick stomped on the leg of Elvis Dumerville during the Gator Bowl. Elvis had the last laugh he is the the NFL making millions and was selected to the pro bowl, while Marcus Vick is flipping burgers somewhere.

If he's going to stay away from questionable characters who can shed bad light on the NFL, he's going to have to stand on the sidelines.

The things Michael Vick did can't be described in a G-rated forum, and they can't be put down to some momentary lapse of reason. IMHO he got his second chance when he got out after 23 months and was allowed to seek gainful employment. Playing in the NFL isn't some fundamental right that he has earned back. It is, or at least should be, an honor, one he's made himself ineligible for. I think he should be flipping burgers with his brother. And for the record, yes, I'm a long-time Eagles fan. Oh well, go Flyers!

Watched the interview on 60 minutes last night and I didn't like the attitude in Vick. He supposed to have the image makeover specialists and guiding hand of Dungy but he seemed like needed more schooling to me.
Like I said he did his time so he should move on but man this guy (IMO) is gonna get in trouble again, maybe not with dogs but with fools.

I agree with DJD, Vick paid for his actions but I can't help but think he will be in trouble down the road again. Having more money than you know what to do with and hanging around with trash is a recipe for disaster.

    Re: Mike Vick

BS! He is only sorry that he got caught. He should be banned for life. Let him go back to the hood and bus tables. Only in the NFL or the NBA would they let this low life back to make millions.
Major League Baseball.....only where Pete Rose cannot even be voted on!

I say put Vick in a cage with a couple of pit bulls and let them serve justice.
