I'm starting to notice something here. Everyone's "Go-To" bait is different. So I'm asking myself, does it really matter to the fish what size shape or color it is? Sounds like if you put it in front of their face their going to eat it. I realize some of these baits are better in certain times of the year but I think we as anglers put to much emphasis on what size to throw what color is the best etc. etc. I think it boils down to what you have confidence in.

However, to answer your question my go to plastic is a baby brush hog, green pumpkin w/blue flake.

I think you are right. It seems that we put more importance on what bait we are using the bass do. It boils down to using the correct type of bait for the given time/situation. Many times, no matter what you have tied on, that bass was going to hit it when it landed on top of him. Other times, you have to immitate the bass's forage that they are keyed into at that time. I have had many trips were a certain lure was the ticket and nothing else worked. They fish were definitely keyed in on a specific forage. I've had trips were it seemed like you could take your shoe-lace off and put a hook on it and catch fish. Just depends.

It can also be the kind of retrieve you use, even with plastics. Last Saturday night a buddy of mine who usually catches fish only caught 2 small non keepers while I caught 9 keepers that we know of(we quit counting after this) on the same exact bait. He finally noticed the retrieve I was using & figured it out .lol. I sure wasn't going to tell him as we usually have a good friendly competition & the guys at work are always asking who spanked who & it tears him up to have to tell them I gave him a good one especially when they never let him live it down lol

When it gets bad, I can always tie on an watermelon Zoom Super Fluke dipped tail and catch a few fish.
