15lb floro is a mainstay if im throwing a 3/8 or heavier. If you are our to save money, 17lb clear Excel will work just fine. I dont believe ive broke a fish off all year using 17lb excel..........tough stuff.

Cumberland Pro Casting Jig. Best hook, head, and colors around. Plus Brian is a great guy to work with. If you need it, he will get it made up for you.
I went to the website, but it wouldn't show the colors. I need a brown/orange color for this fall. What color closely matches brown/orange? Also, what color brush hog trailer do you prefer??
Naked Craw or Barren Craw are my favorites. Brian will be able to give you more info about your brown and orange color and which color he would prefer out of his selection.
How can I reach Brian and what is his last name?? Not familiar with his baits, but want to try new jig this fall... Already have another one I want to try and his sounds good too....
Contact him at [email protected] u can also make orders through his email you can ask him about a brown and orange jig, but I think EKUbassfisher is right the naked craw sounds similar to what you want. I know he's in the process of making a new site so things should be a little easier to examine things and see what you like.
I use a 7`6" heavy action rod for all my jig fishing & only use 20lb. Big Game or Suffix Elite. I tried the Excel & it broke repeatedly. Could have gotten a bad spool, but after losing 2 tourneys in a row because of it I haven't used it since.
i still have stan sloans but you cant get them anymore so when i run out guess ill have to try shoebootie and cpros
You must have gotten a bad dose of excel cause that stuff has so much stretch you could bungie dive with it. It's pretty much bullit proof. As for Stan Sloan someone bought it a while back and they've been up and running for a while. I use to use Stan Sloan too but the hooks are really really really crappy that's why I switched to Cumberland Pro.
I love to fish jigs, and I am getting more confidence in them the longer I fish them. There is a guy in Mt. Washington where I live that makes an awesome jig, his name is Jeff, and his website is WWW.LEGALLIMITLURES.COM. He makes an awesome jig, with any color combo you would want. Give his website a look, and try a couple, you wont regret it.
I also still use Stan Sloans...the new ones do have stronger hooks in them and are a little bit better than the old ones thats for sure...but i still havent found a better one than Brians
