This will not help you, but If I were planning a Smallmouth trip I would wait until late October or November, Water in September is still to warm to start a good smallmouth bite.

If im going to target smallies i would head down to dale hollow. That is by far my favorite lake.
the night jig bite on Dale should still be pretty good then. probably on Cumberland too. main lake points near the river channel should be best. i've always heard that erie was awsome in Sept. made a trip there myself a few years ago in Sept and did'nt do very good, but that means nothing. that lake is different from any lake i've ever been on and takes time to figure out. i'd love to go back and figure them out. good luck and let us know how you did.
Too warm! Hang on a little bit longer and hit it in mid-late October. Dale Hollow & Cumberland. Good luck!

I've had the absolute best smallmouth trips on Cumberland in September & scheduled vacation this year on the 4th through the 11th. I'll be there everynight. I have always caught them there when there is some moon light.
