The consensus would seem to be that the cost of the "public option" would be, well, every other option going away. Not something I can support. Sorry to break this to you, Mr. President, but the conservatives are right on this one

Might I remind you GB had control with a majority in house and senate for 6 yrs. What did they bring us? A war we cant afford to win, uncontrolled spending, every nation on earth hating us, illegal wiretapping of you and me, tax cuts for the top 2 percent we cant afford, 1st 80 BILLION of bailouts, homeland security that couldnt defend louisiana, I could fill this page! Why would you accept this from his administration and whine about obamas, its the same policy as I see it?

A fact that doesn't get much airtime: The Dems had the majority the last 2 years of Mr. Bush's presidency, that's when the economy began it's dive. What caused the actual collapse? Why your heroes Franks, Reid, Dodd, etc who forced the relaxation of mortgage lending rules on Fannie and Freddie.

A war we can't afford to win? More like war we can't afford to lose. What's your plan? Sit back and wait for the next 9/11? Go over and apologize? Try to make fanatics who've been killing innocents for the last 50 years and want to see us dead like us better? The expenditures for the entire war pale in comparison to the money Mr. Obama's administration borrowed from China in 3 just months.

Why do the libs hate Mr. Bush for the Iraqi war, and give President Obama a free pass for the war he's waging in Afghanistan now?

Get this through your head - Mr. Bush gave tax cuts to every CONTRIBUTING American including the top 2%. Did you forget the tax rebates that came in the mail for you? No, he didn't dole out money to people who haven't even paid any taxes to begin with like the Dems do, and that's the way it ought to be.

Homeland Security should be disbanded, one of President Bush's many mistakes. The first 80 billion bailout another.

How can anyone in their right mind condone more control of our lives by the government? According to the President Medicare will fail soon. Social Security is headed for a cliff. Yet you're for the government taking control of health care. How blind can you be?

I don't want the government taking my money or messing with my life anymore than is minimally necessary. I don't trust politicians of any party, particularly the Democrat party. I support Republicans because at least they say they're for smaller government and lower taxes.

Great reply. I agree almost one hundred percent, maybe just a hair more!!!

But, you knew that was coming, didn't you??

I want a strong military for deterrance. I don't think we can have a lasting peace through fighting. Everytime we, the U.S.A., or any country, destroys our enemies, we create a hole new generation of haters. I mean we killed their daddies... they don't understand anything else but that, and that is what they are taught.

That means we have to achieve peace through non-violent means, yet we need to have a very strong, and capable military to serve as a deterrent. I am by no means saying that attacks on us should go unanswered. I am just saying, in the really long term, we must come together as a species... humans... and it won't happen through violence.

Now I'm stepping off my "peace soap box" and I can not believe my own stance. It wasn't that many years ago that I was one of the biggest "hawks" there was on this planet.

Couldn't defend Louisiana? What does that mean? Are you giving that sorry excuse for a Mayor a free ride? Do you mean he should have stopped the Hurricane?? What are you talking about?

How do you help people who have leaders that are inept? How do you help people who won't help themselves? How do you help people who prey on eachother at any given chance?
