Maybe I am mistaken but the whole Rose situation is over his SAT. Isn't that test usually taken prior to the kids commiting to a school. Therefore the kid is in the wrong just happened to be Memphis and Caliparis misfortune that they signed the kid. Isn't this why Calipari is not implicated? I know it looks bad by association but do people think Calipari arranged for this or would have played him if he knew this. I mean REALLY.

Elkhorn, that would appear to be the case until you read the reports. Cal's friend/street agent World Wide Wes appearantly drove Rose from Chicago to Detroit to take the test, Problem was, he failed the test three times in Chicago but passed with flying colors in Detroit. Now other schools that were recruiting Rose dropped off because of his trouble getting qualified, but Memphis and Cal stayed the course. Things that make you go Hhhmm!
I always enjoy hearing the Cal had nothing to do with it defense. If people would take off the tinted glasses and look closely at most of the players he recurits, where they played high school ball (diploma mills), his association with WorldWide Wes....... I think they should be worried about the future of UK basketball.
Then again with UK having a few down years and the recuriting class he has coming in this year most fans can look past most of what I listed above.
I think it's all a big mis-understanding. There is no way a fine upstanding man like Coach Cal would do something dishonest. You can't always help who your surrounded by. I mean look at other coaches right now. Not going to name any names, but as far as I know Cal can keep his pants on. So That's a fine upstanding man in my eyes.
GO CATS, GO CATS, GO CATS
five years, ha we are going to win it this year
yyyeeeeehhhhaaaawww
lol
LOL the key phrase is "as far as I know" Nothing upstanding about this snake oil salesman and what possibly makes you think he will win a title? He couldn't even win Conference USA until after Cincy, U of L and Marquette left. Now what he did do was take a preseason top 5 team to the N.I.T. Title!
Although some may "love the Cal had nothing to do with it defense" tinted glasses and all. I find it hard to believe that this being the second infraction the man was around if he was implicated in any way the NCAA would be after his rear end. Instead the NCAA has made no mention of wrong doing on his part. Just sounds to me like some are jumping on a bandwagon with no proof. Is the wes involvement fact or rumor. Just curious if that has been substantiated.
You know, he may be a snake oil salesman...or he may be getting smeared by the wrong actions of some others in a "wrong place at the right time" kind of fashion...I have no way of knowing for sure, so I'm looking at the present. What I have seen so far of Cal gives me no reason to believe he's anything other than a passionate basketball coach who really loves the game, embracing this UK fanbase/program, and reaching for another level. I hope he does not prove me wrong.
I still say that in regards to the Rose situation - The NCAA Clearinghouse CLEARED HIM TO PLAY BALL. What else could Memphis/Cal do but play him? Why would they not? the NCAA declared him eligible. He cheated on his test, and we're pretty positive that we know that is the case now, but (1) if Cal had no knowledge of it, and (2) if Memphis had no knowledge of it, then why would they not play him after being cleared by the very institution that is now saying, in a nutshell, "You cheated, we didn't catch it then, and now we're penalizing Memphis for guilt by association and following our eligibility rules." What the heck? What is Rose (the cheater) getting docked in this case?
I do not like the Worldwide Wes connection for a minute, but I'm not certain that the media and the fact-knowing-fans have all of the skinny on how Wes was involved in the Rose deal, if at all. I've heard that Wes lives in Detroit, I've heard that he drove Rose to Detroit, I've heard that he took the test for him....well boys, I've also heard that UFO's landed in Bullitt County in 1967, Lee Harvey Oswald didn't act alone, and Elvis Presley is living in the trailer park alongside I-64 in Clark County....don't believe all the "facts" you hear.
You're innocent until proven guilty in this country, last I checked, and unless someone can PROVE that Cal and Memphis knew about this and were in on it, then they are INNOCENT. Period. Same deal with the old Camby situation at UMASS. Maybe he's "Teflon John"...or maybe he's actually innocent. Is it impossible that coach just lands recruits with his magnetic personality, love of coaching these kids, and very-attractive style of play for NBA-hopefuls? Now throw in the UK nameplate...huge combination. The man doesn't need to cheat.
Do you honestly think for one minute that if there was one speck of evidence out there that Cal was in on these two deals that the NCAA wouldn't be on Euclid Ave with a rope looking to string him up from the highest tree? It would have already been done long ago.
Amen, Mr Splitshot
I'm rooten for a championship this year
Are you trying to tell me that O.J. is innocent? He was tried and found not guilty. That does not change the truth, we all know he did it. I am a die-hard, blue bleeding Kentucky fan and I am just keeping my fingers crossed and hoping for the best. Am I saying he is guilty, no, I REALLY hope he is not guilty. But, then again, if it looks like a duck and quacks like a duck...You're innocent until proven guilty in this country, last I checked, and unless someone can PROVE that Cal and Memphis knew about this and were in on it, then they are INNOCENT. Period. Same deal with the old Camby situation at UMASS. Maybe he's "Teflon John"...or maybe he's actually innocent.

The NCAA didn't know that he took the test in Detroit or that he failed it the first three times he took it. Cal did know as did other coaches, who backed off and withdrew scholarship offers.
Cal and memphis knew his Rose was under investigation over his Test scores in January of that year, but played him anyway.
Everyone knows the World Wide Wes connection and has for years. Why did Cal and Wes have such a great relationship and friends of Wes ended up playing for Memphis? The WWW connection has been the talk of college coaches for quite sometime, including at the NIKE Camp in Indy at one point. How do I know this? I was part of the media and covered most of the major camps and AAU Tourneys.
Read the NCAA report, or even just the snippetts the media has fed you, you will learn a lot. One thing for sure about Cal, he has always left a program in worse shape than before he got there and that is a proven fact.
Btw the UK nameplate means ZERO to kids these days, as does the UNC, DUKE, UCLA, IU and U of L nameplates. These kids go to school to play for the COACHES because those are the people that can help them get to the next level, not the school.
