Is the bill perfect, absolutely not but you have to 1st recognize that there is a problem and then deal with it. The alternative is sticking our head in the sand and hoping it will go away. I have 2 children and want the best for them as you do your family im sure. In the 35 yrs or so I can remember look how far we have came and what will the next 35 yrs hold for our children and us. I hope the pollution doesnt double like in China, do you?
Obviously, you know everyone on the planet wants contaminants eliminated from our waterways. You said it, the bill isn't perfect. But to use the we got to start somewhere arguement as a motivation for passing this bill is ludicrous. Thats like saying we don't like car accidents so we are all gonna drive bicycles and hope the rest the world follows our lead...not gonna happen. This is not just about clean water. If it was it might actually get more support. Alot of it is about who has money invested in "clean energy" and in "green technology" ...GE....Al Gore..etc.
Making our country compete in a global economy with the handicap it encumbers us with is like putting a one legged man in a butt kickin contest. Who would you put your money on?
