    Re: Jig Line

I always have trouble deciding whether or not to use flouro or mono, I really like a little stretch, but I guess it depends on cover, for rocky and wood/tree structure I guess flouro is better and in grass mono is better, but what about open water like ledges and fishing deep?...I dunno i can never make up my mind what I like better when it comes to jigs, i guess water clarity comes in to play too, in murky/stained water i guess you can get away with a high pound test mono, as opposed to clear water where flouro would be an advantage. I think I need another jig rod and have one for mono and one for flouro...would that solve it?

    Re: Jig Line

I fish Gamma FC for all my bottom bouncing and feel it is a distinct advantage.

FC is touted as less stretch but tests on tackletour.com showed that was not the case vs. many hybrids and mono. Most of the FC manufacturers and pro's now say FC is a denser line and transmits energy more like a solid.

The gamma pure FC has a stiff feel to it but casts a long way. If you will watch a friend fish your rig with Gamma FC you will notice the line jumping around harshly when rocks are hit (really sends a signal to you if you have titanium wire guides). Now watch the same guy fish the same rod, reel, and a hybrid like Pline Florclear and you will see much much less jumping on the line on the same rocks. My Dad was recently testing the sensitiveity of his rod vs. mine with the only difference being the line. I was amazed just watching the line. Like me, he now pays $20 a spool for Gamma FC.

others may have learned something different but for bottom bouncing of any type, I go Gamma. Only exception is in Florida when I might use braid for everything but they have few to no rocks in Florida to cut the line.
